About Draft Wheelchairs
Draft Wheelchairs is an independent and innovative company providing
equipment to people of
varying disabilities, promoting independence and enabling easier, more
active lifestyles.
Started in 1997 we are a small company of 5 employees, the majority wheelchair users, where personal service and attention to detail are paramount. Draft is owned by a partnership combination of Barry Norman and Dan Chambers:
After being in a wheelchair since 1970, Barry has the experience of being a long-term active chair user. This experience translates into the knowledge to accurately and sympathetically specify wheelchairs for different lifestyles. Also an ex-wheelchair racer of international standard Barry deals with all of the assessments on the racing wheelchairs using his knowledge to achieve the correct seating position required for maximum efficiency whether the client is a top international or starting athlete.
With a background in custom cycle frame manufacture, Dan's lifelong passion for structural and mechanical engineering has enabled Draft to manufacture a number of world class products across several disciplines. His attention to detail and constant improvement of the product has helped to produce 9 current world records and 13 Paralympic medals.

Each product is bespoke, individually built from the ground up for each client. There is no mass production, no standard widths or angles. Every client can discuss requirements with the people who will actually design and build their chair.
