Draft Wheelchairs is an independent and innovative company providing equipment to people of varying disabilities, promoting independence and enabling easier, more active lifestyles.

We are a small company of 6 employees founded in 1997. We are in the majority wheelchair users, where personal service and attention to detail are paramount. Draft is a limited company owned by a partnership combination of Barry Norman and Dan Chambers:

A wheelchair user since 1970, Barry has the experience of being a long-term active chair user. This experience translates into the knowledge to accurately and sympathetically specify wheelchairs for different lifestyles. Also an ex-wheelchair racer of international standard, Barry deals with all of the assessments on the racing wheelchairs, using his knowledge to achieve the correct seating position required for maximum efficiency whether the client is a top international or starting athlete.

With a background in custom cycle frame manufacture, Dan's lifelong passion for structural and mechanical engineering has enabled him to personally build world class products across several disciplines. His attention to detail and constant improvement of both his own and our competitors' product has helped to produce numerous world records, world championship and Paralympic medals.

We have also built handcycles and rowing seats which have been used in winning gold medals at previous Paralympics since Sydney 2000. In total, our users have brought back 23 medals over 3 Paralympics.

In addition to sports chairs, we also manufacture a number of individually built day chairs for an limited number of clients. Each product is bespoke, individually built from the ground up for each client. There is no mass production, no standard widths or angles. Each is produced bespoke, a la carte. Every client can discuss their personal requirements with the people who will actually design and build their chair.
