Post-weld heat treated to remove weak areas around the welds (Heat Affected Zones) these chairs may cost a little more, but the durability pays off in the end. No other 6061 aluminium amnufacturer carries out the necessary 3-stage heat treatment process. In addition, the build quality allows VMC to use lighter guage tubing to reduce mass. VMC also developed the 5/8" diameter axle system to stiffen up the drivetrain and reduce the downtime and expense of bent spindly 1/2" axles.
