D.O.B 8th June 1990
Elite British Paralympic athlete from Telford.
Mickey was born with Lumbar Sacral Spinal Agenesis Congenital Paraplegia – he is ‘missing’ seven vertebrae from the lower part of the back.
He entered his first competitive races at age 11, winning the 60m and 100m at the West Midland Regional Athletics Championships at the Alexander Stadium, with ease.
At the Beijing 2008 Paralympics, aged 18, Mickey stormed to a silver medal in the T53 100m in 14.86 second, narrowly missing out on gold to America’s Joshua George.
Mickey also holds the 15.33 seconds European record for T53 100m and is Triple British Record holder for T53 100m, 200m and 400m.
Mickey is the youngest athlete ever to compete in the world’s fastest downhill wheelchair race, the cult Tyne Tunnel 2K International.
Mickey has a reputation as a man of few words but a lot of action. When it comes to his dedication to wheelchair racing, he has quickly developed a reputation for a ‘one track mind’.
