Elite British Paralympic athlete
At 29 years old he had won three London Marathons in a row. Weir won four medals (two golds, a silver and a bronze) at the 2008 Summer Paralympics Games, which were his third Games.
David currently holds the British record at all track distances up to 5000m, as well as on the road at 10Km, half marathon and marathon. He also holds the male wheelchair record for the Reading Half Marathon.
Final day honours went to David at the Paralympic World Cup in Manchester in May 2008 which saw him win two gold medals on the track.
The GB team won some five gold, five silver and six bronze medals.
